Product Designer & Software Engineer

Design
that feels
right.

Hi, I'm Fatima — a software engineer who designs. 6 national hackathon placements in UI/UX, a UX internship at The Nexen Studio, and a genuine belief that good design has to be buildable.

Engineer by training,
designer by drive.

I got into design through hackathons, and I got serious about it fast. Six national placements later, I had built a body of work that spoke for itself — full hi-fi prototypes, real problem statements, real competition.

Being a software engineer changes how I design. I know what a rerender costs. I understand how an API response shapes a screen. Every design decision I make accounts for how it will actually be built.

I graduated with a degree in Software Engineering from PUCIT, Lahore. I bring both sides of the product to every room I'm in.

6 National Hackathon Placements
Wins and runner-up finishes across Pakistan's top university tech competitions, all in UI/UX.
💼
UX Designer Intern at The Nexen Studio
Designed and delivered landing pages, worked closely with developers, and contributed to live client projects.

What I work
with.

I move fast in Figma, think in systems, and because I'm also an engineer, I know when a design decision will cost three sprints to implement.

🎨
Figma
Primary design tool — components, auto-layout, prototyping, design systems
🔬
User Research
Problem framing, user flows, pain point mapping, competitive analysis
📱
Mobile-First Design
iOS and Android patterns, responsive layouts, touch interaction design
Rapid Prototyping
Hackathon-trained — full hi-fi prototypes under pressure in 8-hour sprints
🧩
Design Systems
Color tokens, typography scales, component libraries, spacing systems
💻
HTML / CSS / JS
I can read and write front-end code — design handoffs I give actually work

Where I've
worked.

2024 – 2025
UX Designer Intern
The Nexen Studio — Remote, Dubai
Designed and delivered 20+ landing pages across 6 client projects, from initial wireframes to developer-ready handoffs. Collaborated closely with the development team across multiple live products, aligning design decisions with technical constraints. Contributed to improving client engagement metrics through cleaner information architecture and stronger visual hierarchy.
Internship · UI/UX
2022 – 2025
Competitive UI/UX Designer
National University Hackathons — Pakistan
Earned 6 national placements across Pakistan's top university tech competitions, all in the UI/UX track. Each project was built from scratch within an 8-hour sprint — problem research, user flows, wireframes, full hi-fi screens, and a live prototype ready for presentation. Also received a Letter of Appreciation from PUCIT for outstanding design work.

Software Engineering Student
PUCIT — Lahore, Pakistan
Bachelor's in Software Engineering. The technical background behind every design decision — understanding systems, data structures, and how interfaces actually get built gives me a different perspective in the room.

Why I actually
love this.

01
🧩
Every screen is a puzzle
I love the constraint. You have limited space, a distracted user, and a business goal that needs to happen in three taps. That tension is exactly where good design lives.
02
🤝
The most honest feedback loop
You ship something and you immediately know if it worked. Users don't lie with their behavior. That directness is addictive once you've experienced it in a hackathon setting.
03
Engineering + design is a superpower
Most designers don't know what a rerender costs. Most engineers don't think about cognitive load. Being both means I never design something that can't be built — and I never build something that shouldn't exist.

Let's work
together.

Whether it's a full-time role, a freelance project, or just a conversation about design — I'm always open to a good one.
